concept of smart cities in India seeks to address urbanization challenges by
leveraging technology to enhance the quality of life, promote sustainability,
and improve governance. With 100 cities selected under the Smart Cities Mission
(SCM), this initiative aims to create urban spaces that are efficient,
inclusive, and responsive to citizen needs. This review highlights the
evolution, strategies, key components, challenges, and future prospects of
smart city planning in India.
