Effect of Insecurity on Socio Economic Activities in Bunu District, Kogi State Nigeria

This study examined the effects of insecurity on socio-economic activities and the in Bunu District, Kogi state, Nigeria, between 2020 and 2025. The increasing incidence of kidnapping, banditry, and violent attacks in rural Nigeria has raised concerns about its impact on livelihoods, social cohesion, and development. Specifically, the study investigated the effects of insecurity on religious activities, and business operations, A cross-sectional survey research design was adopted, and primary data were collected through structured questionnaires administered to 398 respondents, of which 374 were valid for analysis. logistic regression analysis were employed to analyze the data at a 5% level of significance. Findings revealed that insecurity has significantly reduced participation in religious activities, disrupted business operations, lowered household living standards, in Bunu District. The study recommends the strengthening of community-based security mechanisms, targeted economic recovery programmes, protection of social and religious institutions, these measures are capable of restoring stability, improving living standards, and promoting sustainable development in the study area.
