As the global hospitality industry moves towards sustainable practices, regional adaptation becomes essential. In India, West Bengal offers a unique blend of cultural heritage, culinary diversity, and natural destinations—making it a key state to study green transformation in hospitality. The hospitality industry, known for its resource-intensive operations, is under increasing scrutiny for its environmental footprint. This paper investigates how the concept of “greening” is implemented in West Bengal’s hospitality sector, from luxury city hotels to eco-resorts in rural and coastal areas. Through case studies, stakeholder interviews, and literature analysis, the study highlights best practices, regional challenges, and policy gaps. The paper aims to present a localized framework that connects green hospitality principles to the socio-cultural and ecological context of West Bengal.
